Tach vs Hobbs

The hourly rates shown above are for wet tach time, not hobbs time, which saves our members a lot of money! Visit the Tach vs Hobbs page for an explanation of the differences, and how tach time saves you money.

Fuel Reimbursement

The only time fuel reimbursement is necessary is when members buy fuel on their own, away from the hangar. Fueling the aircraft at the hangar requires no payment by the member, only a signature.

When members do purchase fuel for club aircraft, we reimburse them at the same rate we pay for fuel from our fuel provider, regardless of what the member actually paid for the fuel (whether it was more or less). So, for example, a member could make money if they purchased fuel at Twin Oaks, which almost always has lower rates than HIO. Our current HIO preferred fuel vendor is Aero Air.

Members may use one of two methods to obtain fuel reimbursements:

  1. Use the Google Form: Fuel Reimbursement Form
  2. Snap a photo of your fuel receipt and email it to the Club Treasurer directly.

As of August 1st 2022, fuel is reimbursed at $7.10/gal

* Level Zero Membership

All members at levels I or II may fly level 0 aircraft (assuming availability and type based checkout). People wishing to fly only the Level Zero aircraft would have to join at Level 0 as detailed above. When no level 0 aircraft are available, level 0 members may optionally upgrade to Level 1 but must pay Level 1 buy-in and meet in type requirements.

All members are expected to also familiarize themselves with both Club Regulations and customary procedures (as outlined during their initial aircraft checkout with a Club CFI) that tailored to the planes they fly.
